Upholstery Cleaning
Fine furniture made of specialty fabrics, such as Haitian and chintz cotton, embroidery, wool, tapestry and silk (among many others), require special chemicals and cleaning procedures that should only be performed by professionally trained cleaners. R&C Carpet Cleaning Specialists employs some of Minnesota’s top upholstery fabric cleaning experts. With 30 years of combined cleaning experience, they can provide the care needed to safely and precisely remove dust, body oils, hair and soil from fine fabrics.
De-coding the Labels:
Customized cleaning, which requires knowledge of different fabrics and cleaning methods, is usually the best option for fine upholstery. Fiber content and the level of soiling, spotting and wear determine R&C’s pricing and procedures. Often the type of cleaning required corresponds to the labels found on the furniture:
- W Code: Water cleanable fabrics. These are not susceptible to damage from water-based cleaning agents and are usually easy to clean.
- S Code: Solvent cleanable fabrics. These must be cleaned with solvents and are susceptible to damage from water and water-based cleaning agents. They are difficult to clean, requiring special cleaning agents and more time. This cleaning process is more expensive than the process required for W code fabrics.
- S-W Code: Water or solvent cleanable fabrics. Some of these fabrics are easy to clean and some are difficult to clean. The process used is usually more expensive than W code cleaning, but similar to the cost of cleaning S code fabrics.
- Specialty Fabrics: Haitian or chintz cotton may be labeled with W code, S code or S-W code. Cleaning these fabrics is time consuming and requires special care and cleaning agents to prevent damage. These are the most expensive fabrics to clean.
Leather: This requires special products. R&C cleans all of its leather by hand.
